Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how findjob.rw, a service of Deso Engineering Company Ltd (“findjob”, “we”, “us”), collects and uses personal data, in accordance with Law N° 058/2021 of 13/10/2021 relating to the protection of personal data and privacy. It should be read together with our Terms of Use.

1. Who is responsible for your data

2. The data we collect

  • Account data: name, email address, phone number and password (stored in encrypted form) when you create an account.
  • Profile and application data: your CV, profile details and any information or documents you send when applying for an opportunity.
  • Newsletter data: your name, email address and the date you gave consent.
  • Contact data: your name, email, phone number and message when you use our contact form, WhatsApp or email.
  • Advertiser data: the contact and billing details of organisations that advertise with us, and the content of their adverts.
  • Technical data: your IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected automatically by our servers and through cookies (see section 8).

3. Why we use your data

  • To run the Website and your account, and to send your applications to the Advertiser you apply to (performance of our service).
  • To publish adverts, handle orders and payments, and keep business records (contract and legal obligations).
  • To send the weekly newsletter (your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
  • To answer your questions and requests (our legitimate interest in responding to you).
  • To keep the Website secure and prevent fraud, scams and misuse (legitimate interest and legal obligations).

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decisions about you.

4. Who we share it with

  • Advertisers: when you apply for an opportunity, your application and the data in it are shared with that Advertiser, who then handles it under its own responsibility.
  • Service providers who help us operate the Website, such as our hosting provider and our email and newsletter provider, only for the purposes described here.
  • Payment providers (MTN MoMo, Airtel Money and banks) when advertisers pay us.
  • Authorities, when we are required to do so by Rwandan law or to protect our users against fraud or other illegal activity.

5. Where your data is stored

The Website is hosted by an external hosting provider, and some of our service providers may store data on servers outside Rwanda. Where personal data is stored or transferred outside Rwanda, we do so only as permitted by Law N° 058/2021, including any authorisation required from the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), and we require appropriate safeguards from our providers.

6. How long we keep it

  • Account and profile data: for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
  • Applications: kept with your account and by the Advertiser you applied to.
  • Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe.
  • Contact messages: up to 2 years, so we can follow up on your request.
  • Advertiser orders and invoices: for as long as required by Rwandan tax and accounting law.

7. Your rights

Under Law N° 058/2021 you have the right to:

  • be informed about and access the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • ask us to delete your data, or to restrict how we use it;
  • object to our use of your data, and withdraw your consent at any time (for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter);
  • receive a copy of your data in a commonly used format.

To exercise these rights, contact us. We may ask you to confirm your identity. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may lodge a complaint with the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA).

8. Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary for the Website to work, such as keeping you logged in, remembering your session and securing forms. Our shop system may also record how you arrived at the Website (for example from a search engine). The map on our Contact page is provided by Google Maps, which may set its own cookies. We also use Google Analytics, a service of Google, to understand how visitors use the Website, for example which pages are visited and which website or social network brought them. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, device and browser; it does not tell us your name. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on from Google. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the Website may then not work properly.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted passwords and restricted access. If a data breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will notify the NCSA and, where required, the people affected, as provided by law.

10. Children

The Website is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. The latest version is always published on this page with its “Last updated” date.
